This video begins with prep work before adding a clear coat of epoxy over the vinyl flakes. The flakes were put down a day earlier and allowed to cure for 24 hours. The floor is lightly sanded and vacuumed before applying the clear coat of epoxy. The epoxy is left to cure for 24 hours before doing the final urethane seal with aluminum oxide sprinkled on top to provide a non skid surface.
Sanding over the base coat of epoxy then mixing the three colors of vinyl flakes together. A colored epoxy is painted onto the floor before adding the flakes on top. 250 lbs of vinyl flake were used in this project. Color is added to the epoxy so that if there’s any area on the floor that doesn’t have flake there will at least be color and not cement showing through. Areas of no flake weren’t a problem for us.
