How to install Garage door opener with Main Beam in the way?

I want to install a garage door opener, but in the garage the main beam is in the way. It is a high ranch with a 2 car garage and the beam crosses through the middle of the garage parallel to the garage doors (supported by a pole in the middle of the garage between the cars. To install a ceiling mount garage door opener, I would have to cut a large hole or notch in the beam for the rail to pass through.

Is that OK? What are the alternatives?

How come the garage door is not opening and closing?

There is a lever that actually pulls and open the garage door when you press your garage-door button. Then there is a short metal bar along the chain (long) from the motor (box) and the garage door which grips the metal bar so it opens and closes the garage. This short metal bar runs when the garage door button is pressed along the chain, but it is not gripping as it should hence, the door is not opening and closing. Anyone has solution how to fix this ? I would appreciate the correct suggestion. Thank you.

Can 1/2hp garage door openers open a 2 car garage door without spring? One side of the wire on my garage door broke, right now the door is crooked. If I cut the remain wire, the door will not be sprung, will the garage door opener still have enough power to open it? This is just temp solution until I can get it fixed, but I need to know before I cut. Thanks.
What I had to do last night was, I losened the bolt that was holding the wheel that was winding the wire, it released the spring’s energy, then I just manually opened the door with a buddy. I’m going to hire a professional to fix it and wind it back to the proper tension though.

Your Guide To Purchasing A Garage Door

If your garage door is making noises, you are finding it very difficult to lift, there are cracks in its panels, the door opener is stuck up; probably this is the right time to think of replacing it. Before you make a decision, you need to have a better understanding of your next deal. This will help you make a wise decision. While thinking of new one, you should consider two important factors; maintenance and operability.

A door should not only be safe and secure, but it should also make a good appearance and overall enhance property value. Doors can be made from different materials including wood, steel, fiberglass and aluminum. Each type of material has its own advantages and disadvantages. They are available in a variety of options based upon manufacturer’s provided features including window sections, decorative frames, torsion springs, photoelectric safety, radio transmitters and numeric key locks, etc.

Torsion springs are an option for sectional doors although overhead doors normally use extension springs. Torsion Springs are consisted of a shaft spring and drum. Torsion springs balance the door weight well and usually do not break and fly off like tension springs. Torsion springs are a bit expensive, but are far more reliable and safe to install. Automatic opening and closing operation is one of the most desired and attractive feature in doors. Lifetime motor warranty and sectional panel tracking are additional features.

A special photoelectric eye sensing feature is a very handy option in automatic garage doors. A photoelectric sensing eye is installed just above the ground on garage door to immediately sense the activity under the door and move the door in reverse direction or stop operation to protect the obstruction or moving object. This is a very handy option especially doors with little children and pets frequent motion. This photoelectric sensing eye operates with an invisible light beam.

They are also available with remote control transmitters. These remote control units can be as small as to fit in a key chain. These can also be programmed with personal codes. Multi-button remote control units can perform additional functions like lights and putting on or off other appliances along with door opening and closing options.

No matter what additional features you opt with your garage door, the foremost importance should be given to reliability, safety and good appearance. Choice of garage door parts should be suitable to environmental conditions and correspond to surroundings. Quick maintenance and service availability of parts along with after sale service contracts should be carefully chosen.

    garage door?

The boss walked into the office one morning not knowing his zipper was
down and his fly area wide open. His assistant walked up to him and
said, this morning when you left your house, did you close your garage
    door?"

The boss told her he knew he’d closed the garage door, and walked into
his office puzzled by the question. As he finished his paperwork, he
suddenly noticed his fly was open, and zipped it up. He then understood
his assistant’s question about his "garage door." He headed out for a
cup of coffee and paused by her desk to ask, "When my garage door was
open, did you see my Hummer parked in there?"

She smiled and said, "No, I didn’t. All I saw was an old mini van with
    two flat tires.
